Fasthosts Internet launches new online back-up service

CBR Staff Writer Published 15 February 2011

Priced from £10 per month, the service can back-up up to 1TB of data

Fasthosts Internet, a web hosting provider, launched a new online back-up service designed to provide protection for valuable business data.

The company claims that the new back-up service, which is priced from £10 per month, is ideal for small and medium sized businesses.

The new service can automatically back-up up to 1TB of data, transferring it via SSL and storing it encrypted within a UK data centre.

Fasthosts is using 'cloud-based' model to deliver secure back-up on demand.

The company has developed an intuitive user interface to help small business users to integrate data protection measures easily into their workflows.

Fasthosts said the user is not limited to specific hardware for utilising the service and can up- or downscale at any time and therefore only pays for their required usage.

Fasthosts Online Back-up uses software to analyse files marked for back-up so that only incremental changes are uploaded.

The new service works with desktop computers, laptops, dedicated or virtual servers, and so compliments both on-premise and hosted solutions already in place.

The offering supports Windows operating systems, SQL and Exchange back-ups and has minimal system requirements.

Fasthosts Internet marketing director Steve Holford said their new online back-up service can protect a business from the significant disruption and financial loss that can occur should the worse happen to their on-premise hardware.
